    REBRANDING THE FOUNDATION - 4 September 2007
Frequent visitors to the site and those interested in the fate of the ship will have noticed the recent changes that see the name Zuni and the color gray feature in our restoration efforts more prominently than in the past. Several individuals who have long been a part of the historic ship community advised the Foundation Board that the ship would generate more interest and be more appreciated by historians and the general public as an historical treasure from the WWII era than as a Coast Guard ship.

We have long struggled with getting support for our effort while trying to outfit her and feature her history as a cutter, so it was welcome advice and good to have expert opinions that allowed us to move to a WWII Navy configuration with a good conscience. So, after much thought and consideration of the impact of the change and with concurrence of those who have been visible supporters of the effort, the polled members of the Tamaroa Maritime Foundation unanimously agreed that the former U.S. Coast Guard cutter currently in custody of the Foundation and registered as the Motor Vessel Tamaroa be restored as much as possible to her original configuration as the World War II-era Fleet Ocean Tug USS ZUNI (ATF-95).

As such, the Foundation has been renamed the Zuni Maritime Foundation and the ship will be reregistered as the M/V Zuni/Tamaroa.

The significant service of the USCGC TAMAROA (WMEC-166) and the memories of those who served aboard her will always be a major part of our presentation of the ship's history.
